Prometheus — in Greek mythology, son of Titan and oceanid Yapita, Climena (option — Themis or Asia), brother Atlanta, Epimeria, Menetia, father of Deucalion. Prometheus had the gift of foresight, his name means "conceiving before". It surpasses the mind of the brothers of the titans, and even Zeus, his cousin. In opposition to Zeus, he is on the side of people who Zeus took away fire. Prometheus stole fire from Olympus and gave it to the people, but his gift of foresight was not passed, so the people received fire, began to strive to everyday work, to forget the grief and constantly hope for the best. For that Prometheus paid for freedom. Zeus ordered to chain him to a rock in the spurs of the Caucasus mountains and made the eagle to fly every day and peck at his liver. It lasted many centuries. But Zeus sent his favorite son Hercules to fight the eagle and release Prometheus, wanting to know the secret of his future.
