Happy December Birthday May it be filled with Hope, Joy, Peace, and Love and lots of goodies too. This creation depicts some of the December events and holiday's as well as Your birthstone that is a blue turquoise, you have two flowers the narcissus (daffodil) and newer is Holly. More on these later although you can see them in this creation. Other events in your special month...... In the Upper left-hand corner is a little girl lighting the advent wreath which goes all the way through Christmas Day each week starting 4 Sundays before Christmas a candle is lit until all four are lit. Then on Christmas day the Christ candle which is a White candle usually in the center of the wreath is also lit with the others. Some replace all the candles with white ones on Christmas. Advent is a special and Holy time of year a time of waiting for the greatest event in world history when Christ the Savior was born the savior of the world... Below that is St. Nicholas Day. He is looking in a window. In many countries including some families in the USA, it is honored on Dec. 6. This is when children put their shoes out by their bedroom doors and St. Nicholas comes in the night and fills the shoes with candies and gifts. Those that celebrated this holiday also celebrate Christmas in a bigger way. Next to the top on the right is a Remembrance of Pearl Harbor Day on Dec. 7. With the bombing of our Navy in Hawaii and the start of the USA in World War II honoring our military for their service to our nation. Thank you... Below that on Dec. 13 shown with the old drum is in honor of The Army National Guard's Birthday. It is the oldest component of the United States armed forces. The first militia regiments were organized by the General Court of the Massachusetts Bay Colony in 1636, and from the Pequot War in 1637 until the present day has been in every war America has fought. Happy 379th Birthday and thank you to all the Guardsmen for helping protect us both past and present here in our county and abroad as well. Below the drum is a girl playing St. Lucia in honor of St. Lucia Days, this is also on December 13th. One of the biggest celebrations in Sweden is St. Lucia's Day (or St. Lucy's Day). The celebration comes from stories that were told by Monks who first brought Christianity to Sweden. St Lucia was a young Christian girl who was martyred, killed for her faith, in 304 A.D.Known for her generosity in feeding the poor and homeless, St. Lucia aka St Lucy was executed at the age of 20 during the Romans’ persecution of Christians. Lutheran's from Swedish backgrounds as well as Catholics and others. Across from the girl on the left side are people in Church for the Christmas Eve service celebrated in most Churches usually having communion on Dec. 24 Below is Christmas December 25. The Christmas tree, by St. Nicholas, which is evergreen meaning eternal life and always points toward heaven to remind us of eternal life in Christ, lower down the Holy Family is shown, under those in the church, Jesus Christ is Born and Love was born. on the right side an angel to show the day that the Holy family fled with baby Jesus to Egypt. The Angel came to Joseph in a dream and told him to get the babe and his mother and flee to Egypt. Above the angel are some snowdrop flowers also known as Candlemas flowers. Candlemas is a Holiday invented years ago by the Methodist Church now celebrated by others as well. It is to have a candlelight service starting around midnight on New Year's Eve, to remember what Christ has done and a time of celebration, made in order to give people a time together and celebration rather than going to the wild parties of New Year's Eve. Next to the lady playing the piano is one of the foods for December the Pear, the other not pictured is fruit cake and the drink for the month is eggnog. Your Birthstone is the Turquoise Here is a poem called Turquoise. It is said Turquoise promotes mental and spiritual clarity and expansion and enhances wisdom, trust, kindness, and understanding. You have two birthday flowers one is The Narcissus The Meaning of the December Birth Flower, the Narcissus is respect, modesty, and faithfulness. Holly is the second flower used for birthdays in December and newer I thought since it is so popular I would include it too: Just as the oak attracts lightning, holly repels lightning. It was often planted around homes for protection from lightning, and for this reason, it is viewed as a symbol for protection. Interestingly, science has actually discovered the distinct leaf-shape of the Holly acts as a natural repellent for lightning energy, making Holly's protective significance more than just lore. Holly in the Christian world is very significant as the evergreen leave represent the everlasting life in Christ but also the prickly leaves represent the crown of thorns. The red berries signify the drops of blood Christ shed on the cross for all of us... Some facts and Lore: The Holly berries are somewhat toxic to humans and very much so to pets but, birds feed well off of them. However, the rest of the holly is Not toxic and often is used as a stimulant as it has the most caffeine in it.. yes even more than the coffee bean or any other plant. Often used in black teas... Holly besides Protection means vigilance, and stubborn victories won. You can find the Holly and Narcissus throughout this creation. Of course, No birthday party would be complete without some Ice Cream and Cake as you can see on the bottom left and a little boy carrying in some gifts on the right.
