9.25.2015 The Empire period was mainly during Napoleon's time of 1795-1820 Also in the United States it was called the Federal Period although it lasted a longer in the USA from about 1788-1830. the clothing styles were the same, and gone were the wigs of the past period and extremely corseted waists. These new styles took attention away from the natural waist, so that there was then no point to have the tight corseting waists. Inspired by neoclassical tastes, the short-waisted gowns sported soft, flowing skirts and draped loosely like the garments on Greek and Roman statues. Thus during the 1788-1830 period, it was often possible for middle- and upper-class women to wear clothes that were not very confining or cumbersome, and still be considered decently and fashionably dressed.

Oh, Connie! That looks so peaceful and serene! I'd love to visit with my husband while lying in a hammock like that! Life seems to go so much faster nowadays and we don't stop and savor time together like these two seem to be doing! I love this!
