The birthstone a Topaz seen in the girl's hair, on her flower, on the frame, As well in the heart around the word November and just below the heart. Now for other events that happen this month. The lady in black with the cross on the left side represents the Saints that have gone before Nov 1, is all Saints Day. The clock is for the first Sunday in the month we fall back and get an extra hour sleep as Daylight saving time ends, Nov. 3 this year is election day, Nov 11, Is Veteran's Day where we honor all who have served or are serving our county as seen on the left with the little boy saluting. Thanksgiving Day is the last Thursday of the month. This year is Nov.26. The last Sunday of the month is the first Sunday in Advent represented by the advent wreath on the right it is also St. Andrews day represented by the Bible. The November Poem is called Topaz "Who first comes to this world below In dreary November's fog and snow, Should prize the topaz’s beautiful hue, Emblem of friends and lovers true." The word “Topaz” the birthstone for the month of November comes from a Sanskrit word meaning “fire.” And in ancient lore, the topaz could be used to control heat. It was said to have the power to cool boiling water, as well as excessive anger. As a medication, the topaz was used to cure fever. The topaz occurs in a range of magnificent colors of blue, pale green, varying shades of yellow, amber, pink, red, brown and even black. Pure topaz itself is a colorless, clear white stone looking much like a white diamond. Red and some pink topaz get their colors from chromium that is substituted for aluminum in the crystals. But most other colors occur due to minor element substitutions and effects in the crystal. Some colors are unstable and can fade away. For example, brown topaz mined in Siberia can be bleached by sunlight. In other stones, color changes can be induced by heating, high energy irradiation. Moderate heat treatment of colorless topaz can transform it into beautiful light blue gemstones. Chemically, topaz is known as aluminum silicate fluoride hydroxide. Because of strong chemical bonds with this mineral, the topaz is the hardest of silicate minerals. They occur in a large variety of sizes, from tiny crystals to large rocks. The biggest uncut stone, a specimen found in Brazil weighing almost 600 pounds, is on display at the American Museum of Natural History in NYC, NY. This gem, with its lively fire, clarity, beautiful colors and hardness is ideal for jewelry. Pure topaz, when brilliantly cut, can be mistaken for a diamond. Because of its rarity, the topaz is an expensive gem. The most valued and rarest color is red. Imperial topaz-sherry colored varieties of brownish-yellow, orange-yellow, and reddish-brown are the most popular topaz stones and command high prices, as do pink colored stones. Light blue and pale yellow topazes are of less value but are nevertheless stunning in beauty. Brazil is the largest producer of topaz they can also be found in Russia, Ukraine, Pakistan, Scotland, Sri Lanka, Japan. In the USA they are found in Colorado and California. During the Middle Ages, the topaz was used mostly by royalty and clergy. The topaz was once thought to strengthen the mind, increase wisdom, and prevent mental disorders. It was thought to guard against sudden death. Powdered topaz added to wine was used to prevent asthma and insomnia. A cure for weak vision called for immersing the stone in wine for three days and nights, then rubbing the liquid on the eyes. Topaz is associated with constancy, loyalty, faithfulness, and friendship. The Traditional Metaphysical Properties for the November Birthstone Topaz are strength, releasing tension, and balancing emotions. The healing properties of the November birthstone are reputed to be effective for health problems relating to sanity, asthma, gout, blood disorders, tuberculosis, and insomnia. The Topaz is also used to enhance spiritual rejuvenation and feelings of happiness, The Topaz is one of the gems used in the high priest's breastplate, ( Exodus 28:17; 39:10; Ezekiel 28:13 ) and one of the foundations also of the New Jerusalem, in St. Johns description of the city. ( Revelation 21:20 ) The November birthday flower Chrysanthemums or “mums” as they are more commonly known are one of the most widely cultivated flowers in the world and the birthday flower for those born in the month of November. A native to Asia and northeastern Europe, their name comes from the Greek words “chrysos,” meaning gold, and “anthemion,” which means flower. They are a member of the daisy family, which also includes asters, zinnias, and coneflowers. Many varieties of chrysanthemums bloom during the fall months; however, you can also find chrysanthemums blooming just about any time of the year. What makes these plants so interesting is the diversity of flower variations you can find. From puffy poms to the spindly spider and quill flowers, there is a chrysanthemum for every taste. Plants feature dark green leaves and relatively large flowers, with the most common colors being yellow, pink, red, or white. Contrary to their appearance, the chrysanthemum’s pom blooms are not just one single large flower, but rather a grouping of many tiny flowers. The chrysanthemum is one of the most popular flowers, outshined only by the rose. It is a traditional flower to give on Mother’s Day. It symbolizes the qualities of optimism and joy. Red flowers express true love, while yellow refers to a wounded heart, and white the virtue of honesty. The official flower of the city of Chicago is the chrysanthemum. In China, chrysanthemums are considered a symbol of stateliness and are a popular topic of many of the country’s poets. Chrysanthemums are the flower of choice to give on a 13th wedding anniversary A study by NASA found that chrysanthemum plants helped reduce indoor air pollution. Wishing you a wonderful Birthday filled will all kinds of goodies. Connie
