Some rose lore: In the Middle Ages, rose petals were used to purify clothes, linens, and the air, people would sniff them in an effort to ward off the plague, and roses were the ingredients in many folk remedies. On the other hand some vampires preferred filth instead of blood, so the rose is sometimes mentioned as the anti-vampire remedy.
