Dual meanings are frequently used. Alter as in Alternate personality, though could be symbolic of religious type altar. It has to do with programmed dissociation/amnesia/multiple personalities. A trigger is a hypnotic cue or something that "activates" a memory/program/personality structure. 

At its simplest, think of a perfume your grandmother wore, and the only time you encountered the smell was around her. You smell it in a store and it triggers memories of your grandma/childhood

Butterfly can be a Moth, which is a reference point to "Through the Rabbit Hole", which is a reference to "knowing about Occult/hidden wisdom" or just illuminati in general.

Butterflies also are "dirty" little caterpillars and coccoons before they spread their wings and greet the world with their beautiful colours... That can be said about the Celebrities, too
